Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Electrical Training

Course Duration: 3 day(s)

City and Guilds 6187-21 Copper Brazing with Extra Practical

Introduction

Brazing is an intrinsic skill in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and this course aims to provide an understanding of brazing and silver soldering techniques as well as an insight into health and safety and the principles of using oxyacetylene brazing equipment.

For anyone less experienced the 3 day course provides a day of extra practical training to improve your skills before the actual assessment.

For experienced engineers we also offer the copper brazing qualification as a 2 day course.

Replacing the Construction Skills Pipework and Brazing qualification we are pleased to offer the City and Guilds 6187-21 Level 2 Award in Brazing Techniques for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems. Run over 2 days as before (or 3 days when extra practical training is required) delegates will have the opportunity to take their 6187-21 assessment at the end of the course.

Objective

To attain a basic understanding of brazing and silver soldering to BS 2871 part 2 and achieve the City and Guilds 6187-21 Level 2 Award in Brazing Techniques for Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems.

Methodology

The topics will be covered using a combination of presentations and visual aids and practical sessions to learn and develop the necessary practical skills and underpinning theoretical knowledge.

Candidates will need to successfully complete both parts of unit 231/531 to obtain the necessary credits for the qualification:

Unit 231
This is a theory test achieved by completing a multiple choice question paper set by City and Guilds.

Unit 531
This is a test of practical skills completing a practical assignment set by City and Guilds.

Both units are marked during the course.

Synopsis
